Song of the Books, 1-2-3/5, mixed media: drypoint + collage + calligraphy, 50×50 cm, 2017. The text comes from the Irish poem by Tomás Rua Ó Súilleabháin (1785-1848) – each print has the subsequent stanza of the lament after the books lost in the sea, known as Amhrán Na Leabhar. The text was set to music and has been performed by many artists; to me the most haunting is the version by Emer Kenny, and it is her piece that most directly inspired the vision. Still, there are two prints left to be finished…

I’ve found several unfinished half-forgotten works from 2009-2013 in the old portfolios. Seven or even more. Not a good indicator, and according to estimations, the creative forces required for their completion still remain much closer to zero rather than to seven. Perspectives? Maybe autumn. Maybe the next year. Maybe another five years…

playing with a full deck

These are the fragments of collages made on playing cards in collaboration with Liz Cohn – as part of Playing with a Full Deck, which is a worldwide mail-art collab started by Liz in 2010. You can read about the project at the pages of Liz Cohn Art Studio – where full-sized pictures from this set are soon to be seen, among over a thousand cards that have been made so far. The works from Playing with a Full Deck have been shown twice – the next exhibition is going to take place in August at gallery 6 pdx in Portland, Oregon. To follow the project check Liz’s pages at deviantART and facebook.

the silver book — 1

The fragments from The Silver Book – series 1. The Silver Book is an old geography handbook, which since ~2007 has gradually been altered into a scrapbook of creative improvisations and a notebook of thoughts, ideas, memories, fragments of poetry, etc. It is also a kind of laboratory for my personal mythology and a travelogue of semantic expeditions. Moreover, it is a real part of the concept of Library of White Books – the metaphor for the entirety of my creative activity, where words are like seeds, and where books are like plants. The Silver Book is a part of this ever-growing garden of mysteries forgotten, living, and those yet to be discovered; and this set of pictures from 2009 is but a glance into the book, into one of its many dimensions.
