Song of the Books, 1-2-3/5, mixed media: drypoint + collage + calligraphy, 50×50 cm, 2017. The text comes from the Irish poem by Tomás Rua Ó Súilleabháin (1785-1848) – each print has the subsequent stanza of the lament after the books lost in the sea, known as Amhrán Na Leabhar. The text was set to music and has been performed by many artists; to me the most haunting is the version by Emer Kenny, and it is her piece that most directly inspired the vision.
